Food & your blood sugar

At this time of year, it is common for people to pack up the car for weekends away or to go on longer vacations. Being prepared can make a huge difference in blood sugar and weight control. Food choices offered at highway eateries are often fatty and full of blood sugar-raising carbs, such as french fries. Packing a cooler with healthy snacks such as cut-up vegetables and fruit can help to tame your appetite. Keeping water on hand will ensure you are hydrated, and you can also use it to wash fresh produce purchased at roadside stands.

To learn more about summer foods that will keep your sugars stable, and those that will send them sky-high, plus get recipe ideas, including our latest recipe video, read Food & Your Blood Sugar in the Summer 2017 issue of Diabetes Dialogue now.
