Winnipeg Flame of Hope Golf Tournament

Join us on Sept 13, 2022, as Diabetes Canada hosts the 3rd Annual Winnipeg Flame of Hope Golf Tournament, presented by Milnco Insurance Broker and Solutions Centre on the beautiful centrally located St. Boniface Golf Course. This sought out tournament will feature a BBQ lunch, 18 holes of golf with power cart, interactive on-course activities, food and beverages stations, raffles, auctions and celebrity guests!

Tickets: $200 with $50 tax receipt

The Purpose

Currently there are 412,000 people living with diabetes in Manitoba with diabetes and these rates continue to rise.

The Impact

In Support of Diabetes Canada’s D-Camps Programs Proceeds from the Flame of Hope Golf Tournament will help send kids from your community to D-Camps, providing them with the opportunity to enjoy a life-changing summer camp experience. Your support will help us reach our goal of raising $80,000 to send 32 children living with type 1 diabetes to Camp Brairdale.

Type 1 diabetes introduces children, youth, and families to a new reality, one that can make some kids feel different from their friends. A diagnosis also brings with it a whole new set of skills to learn, including testing blood glucose (sugar) levels, priming needles for injection, and counting the daily intake of carbs. Many young people often find themselves being the only person at their school or in their community with diabetes and it can be challenging to accept a diagnosis.

Situated in Lake of the Woods at B'nai B'rith Camp, Camp Brairdale has become an integral part of the lives of children and families affected by diabetes. Children attending camp will enjoy a traditional summer camp experience, while gaining a new level of independence in managing their diabetes. Your generosity can help send a child to camp and foster an atmosphere of inclusivity where campers gain a new level of independence in managing their type 1 diabetes and feel empowered to continue using the healthy practices they learn.
