July 25, 2019 | Quilchena Golf & Country Club Hecla Mining Company John Bowles Memorial Golf Tournament

The tournament continues to honour John Bowles who was active in the Mining Suppliers Association throughout his career and a dedicated volunteer, fundraiser and advocate for Diabetes Canada, first serving as local treasurer and eventually becoming the National President from 1982-84, for which he was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013.

Quilchena Golf & Country Club, has been voted one of the top 10 prestigious courses in the Vancouver, according to BC Business. Set on 120-acres of natural beauty with views of the ocean and the snow-capped Coast Mountains. It features good greens, tight layout and stunning vistas. This private club is named after the First Nations land it lies on, with “Quilchena” meaning running water, sweet water or many waters.

This year all the proceeds from this event will be benefitting children living with type 1 diabetes in BC, by supporting our very own Camp Kakhamela – an inspiring camp on the Sunshine Coast for children living with the disease. Our campers experience a full range of camp activities in a safe, nurturing and empowering environment; supported by an exceptional team of medical staff, volunteers and counsellors.
