Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with the advance planning and training required for us to deliver our exceptional camping program, we made the very difficult decision to put our D-camps on hold this year. We have offered all camp families a full refund.
We remain fully committed to offering D-Camps again. We wish all our supporters a safe and healthy summer and look forward to reconvening next year.
New! Summer 2020 – Dose of D-Camps
D-Camps is proud to present a new way for us to stay connected this summer!
More than ever, young people and their families affected by type 1 diabetes need a sense of community. A place to gather and share their experiences, hope and knowledge with one another.
Sadly, the all-too-familiar anxiety and isolation experienced by families facing type 1 diabetes has deepened during these times.
What is Dose of D-Camps?
D-Camps strive to foster lifelong connections and provide exceptional programs for families living with type 1 diabetes. It is a chance to connect virtually with fellow campers, staff and alumni and be reminded of the supportive community of peers and role models living with type 1 diabetes, along with a healthy dose of fun.
Delivered exclusively through Zoom, a Dose of D-Camps will provide a platform for campers to interact with peers and D-Camps staff facilitators through age appropriate activities.
The need for D-Camps has never been greater. Through Dose of D-Camps, we will:
- Support the type 1 community through shared experiences, hope, knowledge, engagement, and skill development
- Provide a sense of belonging and connection
- Service the needs of a variety of age groups and to ensure meaningful engagement in place of a physical camp experience
- Provide respite for parents, guardians & caregivers
- Provide camp families an opportunity to support Diabetes Canada and D-Camps

We care about your safety
At Diabetes Canada, our priority is the safety and well-being of everyone involved in our programs. We’re proud of the respectful community that we’ve built together and will ensure this continues online. Respect is at the root of all that we do. D-Camps will continue to follow best industry practices, prioritizing safety, making sure to respect others in online spaces so that these programs are something that our entire D-Camps community can all enjoy.
Follow us on social media
D-Camps will continue to keep in touch with our camp community through our social media channels, providing some ways to keep engaged throughout the summer months. Make sure you can follow our social channels and share our content widely so our type 1 diabetes community can participate far and wide.
The Dose of D-Camps will be free to our community. If you are interested in supporting the continued programs and services of Diabetes Canada, please consider donating.
Find your camp
We have four main types of programs (summer camps, family camps, leadership programs and day events) that are available in locations across Canada. Join us and learn that together we will take charge of diabetes and never let it define us. We will explore, share, learn and laugh because we’re all in this together.
Why support diabetes camps
We offer subsidies to families who qualify for financial assistance. These subsidies are made possible through the generous support of various donors.
12% funds used to help children and adults with T1D
1900+ kids and their families attended camp
13% funds used for research
We need your help
Diabetes Canada’s camping tradition began in 1953 in Eastern Ontario. Since that time, our camp program has grown extensively and the organization currently operates nine overnight camp programs across Canada plus numerous year round programs.
