People living with diabetes who take porcine (animal) insulin have raised concerns that the global manufacturer of this product might stop selling in Canada, which could interrupt access to this type of insulin. We at Diabetes Canada understand some people living with diabetes rely on this type of insulin to manage their diabetes and protect their health.

Diabetes Canada continues to work with Health Canada on this issue and is pleased to share with that access to porcine insulin remains uninterrupted. Users of porcine insulin can remain assured that they will be able to access this medication for the foreseeable future.
