TORONTO, Ont. (October, 2022) – This month, Diabetes Canada is hosting two virtual conferences for those living with, and affected by, type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

These free, one-day conferences are designed for people living with diabetes to access knowledge, resources, tools and community to live a full, healthy life.

1 in 3 people in Canada have diabetes or prediabetes with more than 11.7 million people impacted.  This is estimated to grow by 19% in the next decade—diabetes is successful and it’s not slowing down.

And when it comes to the costs to our healthcare system, the disease has a hefty price-tag. In the next decade, Diabetes Canada estimates the cost of the chronic condition of diabetes will cost an additional $1 billion.

That’s why we’re committed to providing free, accessible spaces such as these conferences, where people can discover the supports they need to feel successful in de-mystifying and dealing with diabetes.
