Dear Diabetes Community,

We hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. As we face these unprecedented and uncertain times, we want you to know that Diabetes Canada is keeping a close eye on the updates from leading public health authorities regarding COVID-19. This allows us to make timely and evidence-informed recommendations to people living with diabetes, and decisions to protect the well-being of our valued supporters, staff, volunteers – and communities.

As you may have seen from our social media channels and on our website homepage, we recently issued a list of frequently asked questions. This information addresses some questions you may have about the intersection of COVID-19 and diabetes. Due to the rapid sharing of information, we wanted to make sure you have clear advice from our health-care experts. We are also in close contact with our partners and governments to ensure people living with diabetes continue to have access to prescribed medications, devices and supplies – with no interruptions.

Our mental health and well-being are critical right now and Diabetes Canada has some helpful resources easily accessible on our website, including:

Using the power of your body and mind
Surviving and thriving with positivity

This continuously evolving situation will likely require frequent communication in the coming weeks and months ahead. All of us at Diabetes Canada want you to know we are committed to continuing our much-needed work and programs to support the 11 million Canadians living with or at risk of diabetes. In the short term, we will provide you with the most up-to-date and accurate information that we can, in order to support your physical and mental health.

Canadians have a well-deserved reputation of being kind, and in times like these it is never more important. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Be well,

Russell Williams
