On behalf of the Strike Out Diabetes Event Committee, I would like to ask you to join us in our fight against diabetes. Currently over 11 million Canadians living with diabetes or prediabetes with about 300,000 people living with type 1 diabetes, the most serious form of this chronic disease. Type 1 diabetes, previously known as juvenile diabetes, is an autoimmune disease typically diagnosed in children and youth and leaves them with a life-long challenge – being insulin-dependent. This means children must take insulin daily, either by injections or using insulin pumps – without which, type 1 diabetes is fatal. Since there is no known way to prevent or cure type 1 diabetes, disease management is critical for the rest of a child’s life. But, proper management is a challenging learning process – particularly considering the young age at which diagnosis typically occurs – and there is never a “day off”.
We are reaching out to community-minded organizations such as yours, for support in making this bowling fundraiser a success. There are many ways to give, whether it be:
- Becoming a financial sponsor
- Providing in-kind donations of a product/service towards our silent auction
- Contributing a general monetary donation; recognized with a charitable tax receipt
- Participating via a personal or corporate bowling team – makes for a great team building or employee incentive opportunity!
Enclosed, please find a comprehensive sponsorship package which highlights the various ways you can get involved, as well as the benefits associated with each contribution level. Together with your generous support, we hope to raise vital funds to help send the 8 children from the Burlington community to D-Camps next summer. We thank you for your time and consideration of our request.
Should you have any questions with regard to the event or how you can become involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
