This signature community-run event serves as a unifying platform, bringing together individuals and businesses for an exceptional day of golf. Participants will relish the experience of on-course activities, complemented by food and beverage stations. The event promises a dynamic array of activities, games, and an opportunity to vie for enticing prizes. The tournament offers an engaging silent auction and numerous chances to acquire remarkable prizes. Whether you are an avid golfer seeking a challenging day on the course or aiming to foster client relationships in an inviting setting, the Flame of Hope Golf Tournament guarantees a day full of enjoyment, all while supporting the 1 in 3 people in your community living with diabetes.
Your support will help us reach our goal of raising $80,000 to support local children from Ottawa region living with type 1 diabetes. Proceeds from the Flame of Hope will send youth and children to our medically supervised summer camp program D-Camps.

The Impact
In Support of Diabetes Canada’s D-Camps Programs
Camp Huronda, founded in 1964, has since become an integral part of the lives of children and families affected by type 1 diabetes. Since its inception, Camp Huronda is the only camp facility owned by Diabetes Canada and the only camp that runs a full summer program. Camp Huronda is located on the shores of Lake Waseosa in Ontario's beautiful Muskoka area.
Type 1 diabetes introduces children, youth, and families to a new reality, one that can make some kids feel different from their friends. A diagnosis also brings with it a whole new set of skills to learn, including testing blood glucose (sugar) levels, priming needles for injection, and counting the daily intake of carbs. Many young people often find themselves being the only person at their school or in their community with diabetes and it can be challenging to accept a diagnosis.
Your generosity can help send a child to camp and foster an atmosphere of inclusivity where campers gain a new level of independence in managing their type 1 diabetes and feel empowered to continue using the healthy practices they learn.
