At this time of year, it is common for people to pack up the car for weekends away or to go on longer vacations. Being prepared can make a huge difference in blood sugar and weight control. Food choices offered at highway eateries are often fatty and full of blood sugar-raising carbs, such as french fries. Packing a cooler with healthy snacks such as cut-up vegetables and fruit can help to tame your appetite. Keeping water on hand will ensure you are hydrated, and you can also use it to wash fresh produce purchased at roadside stands.
